Letter From a Birmingham Jail

(The image above is from The Everette Collection depicting Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. inside the Birmingham Jail.)

To celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's legacy today, we encourage all of our members and supporters to read Dr. King's Letter from a Birmingham Jail in its entirety. Dr. King had been arrested (along with 50 others) during a nonviolent demonstration against segregation on April 12th, 1963 and wrote this letter in response to eight white southern religious leaders who wrote a public statement of "concern and caution."
